The Arctek Chest is a 1-block-sized storage chest that allows the player to store items in. It currently (as of June 2017) has 36 Slots.
You can sometimes get Arctek Chests (as well as Grand Arctek Chests) from Things (either as a loot when killing them or by harvesting from them when they are your Pets) and also occasionally from Diamond Treasure Chests which randomly spawn on corrupted blocks in the dark - like in the Corruption layer deep underground.
Other than that you can craft these chests yourself in your Crafting Menu (default key "Q") or at Crafting Tables (that still exist in older worlds), but only after the crafting-recipe has been unlocked upon taking Arcstones for the first time, usually obtained from Keepas of any kind.
Silver Keepas usually carry/give more Arcstones than ordinary blue ones, and Golden Keepas the most. Actually these rare Keepas will provide you with a lot more Arcstones when you kill them as they would give you as a Pet harvest. Still it is a good idea to tame a few Keepas so you can regularly harvest from them, as you can get occasional rare Recipes from them and the currently best equipment that is made from Lumite needs Arcstones to be crafted as well.
To craft 1 Arctek Chest, you'll need (June 2017):
- 1 Arcstone, obtained from Keepas of any kind - either as a loot when killing them or by harvesting from them when they are your Pets, or very rarely found in Wood Treasure Chests
- 4 Stone Slabs, made from Stone, Bedrock or Limestone by using the Processor
- 1 Melted Wax, made from Beeswax by using the Forge or found in Treasure Chests
Upon crafting an Arctek Chest for the first time, the crafting-recipe for Grand Arctek Chests will automatically be unlocked.
To use this Storage-Item, place it on the ground and activate it with right-click or "F" (as the default key). Since R32 you won't need to equip any Power Cells any more to pick up Arctek Chests that have been placed into the world.
You can only take Arctek Chests that are empty (with no items inside). Of course you won't be able to take such items on claims of other players (or in worlds) where your permission level is set low.
If you have placed chests of any kind on a Creativerse game world before August 2016, you will have to empty them, pick them up (as said no Power Cell is needed to pull any of them) and then place the chests again to gain access to their new larger storage space.
You can put whole stacks of stackable materials/blocks/items into these Arctek Chests from your inventory or quick-bar by right-clicking or dragging & dropping with your left mouse-button. If you hold a stack of stuff with your mouse-button (left click), you can drag it over the chest and then right-click to drop only one piece of the stack (also repeatedly). You can also hold left shift + left click, then drag to move half a stack, or hold left shift + right click to move five items, or hold left ctrl + right click to move one item.
You can use the same kind of procedures to take items / stacks from chests.
You can name Arctek Chests (these words will then be shown instead of "Arctek Chest" when you look at them from outside) individually, by activating/opening the chest and then clicking on the icon that looks like a square (note) with a pen to the right of the word "Arctek Chest". You can type up to 30 characters into this array. Even though while writing into this field all letters look like capital letters, you will be shown lower case letters too after confirming your entry with "enter"/"return".
You can also change a few settings for each chest by clicking on the padlock icon shown in the top right corner after activating/opening the chest. Here you can set individual authorizations to control who will be permitted access to this chest (and its contents). Available permission-settings currently (June 2016): "just me", "world owner/admins", "world mods", "builders" or "everyone". On Claims the available settings are "just me", "claim admins", "claim interact only", "claim builders" and "everyone". Since R33 (August 2016) all chests are set to "just me" by default.By clicking on the magnifying glass icon when in the chest, you can see the Transfer History to see who interacted with the chest in what way.
