The lamps can be crafted in your Crafting Menu (default key "Q") or at any Crafting Table in worlds created before R22 on September 16th 2015, after the recipe has been unlocked upon buying it. The lamps will appear in the crafting menu under the headlines "Lighting" and "Premium".
The Medieval Lamp was introduced on May 1, 2017 during the R41 update. It is a luminaire providing open fire that can be placed into the world to spend light. Like all lamps, they can be turned on and off and connected to switches and other machinery.
Despite its name, the Medieval Lamp is designed as a 2 blocks high freestanding brazier with open fire, made out of riveted pointed metal strips that are set into a metal holder.
To craft a stack of 8 Medieval Lamps, you will need
- 2 iron bars (created in the processor)
- 2 iron rods (created in the processor)
- 4 coal
- 2 melted wax (either created in the forge or found in chests)
The lamp can be rotated by pressing and holding R and moving the mouse while holding the left mouse button.
